After seeing all the senior photos and college plans posted around campus, I got curious about where some of my fellow Mountain View Vikings are heading after graduation. So, I walked around and talked to a few of them. Here’s what they shared:
Genesis Hernandez is heading to Mt. SAC this fall. It wasn’t her top choice at first, but she’s excited about the path she’s chosen. She plans to study animal science to become a veterinary technician. Growing up in apartments, she didn’t have many chances to be around animals—but that only made her more determined to work with them one day. “I’ve always wanted to help animals,” she said. After visiting the Mt. SAC campus and meeting some of the staff, she felt good about her decision. “Everyone was really nice, and the tour made me feel comfortable. I’m looking forward to it.”
Alexa Lopez has committed to Rio Hondo College to study business. She’s not 100% sure what area of business yet, but she’s thinking long-term and knows there are a lot of options. For her, affordability and staying close to home played a big role. “It’s sad to leave because I’ve made so many good memories here,” she said, “but I’m ready for what’s next.”
It’s been inspiring to hear everyone’s plans and realize how different all our paths are. Whether someone is going to a four-year university, a community college, or straight into work, we’re all figuring it out one step at a time. And honestly, that’s more than enough.
