The Lady Vikings started the 2017-2018 volleyball season with their first preseason game with a 3-0 loss against Baldwin Park on August 22.
The captains for this season are seniors Alex Soza and Valerie Rodriguez. According to Soza one of their expectations for this season is to win the Mission Valley League.

The Lady Vikes prepared for this season by attending practices and focusing on communicating more during play. According to defensive specialist Miracle Barceleau (‘18) attending all practices helped the Lady Vikes because “practicing only makes us better and we get to create chemistry and trust with teammates.”

Since the gym isn’t available the Vikings have had to practice in other gyms. This was an obstacle for them because they would have to look for a gym to practice in and the time they were given was sometimes limited.

On September 15th the Lady Vikes suffered a 3-0 loss against South El Monte High School. Rodriguez said, “I felt as if we gave up when we were down in points. I feel like we didn’t play as a team.”
