Mike Sandoval, one of the newest additions to Mountain View High School’s teaching staff, recently shared some insights about himself and his experience at the school so far. He mentioned that he’s thoroughly enjoying his time at Mountain View and is grateful for the kindness and warm welcome he’s received from everyone. Prior to joining Mountain View, Mr. Sandoval spent 22 years teaching at Rosemead, making this a new chapter in his long teaching career.
When asked what might surprise his students about him, he revealed, “I can always see them on their phones, no matter how hard they try to hide it. It’s so obvious, and I think that’s something they don’t realize but should. As for me, I think my students see me as strict, but they might be surprised to know that my strictness actually comes from concern. With phones especially, I enforce keeping them away—not to be mean, but because I don’t think they recognize their addiction to them. I genuinely care about helping them, and I’m not sure that always comes across.”
For those who didn’t know, Mr. Sandoval is also a proud cat dad! He has two pictures of his cats displayed in his classroom, adding a cozy touch of home to his workspace.
