Mountain View High School’s late 2010s to early 2020s in basketball can only be described as dominant. Consistently making CIF and finishing top 3 in league, a powerful program highlighted by its coaches and their philosophies. What can be said about these men? Coach Shacolby got us back-to-back league wins. Coach Pratt got us to CIF and coached one of our school’s greatest talents ever. What will Coach Isaac Hall do in his time as head basketball coach? In his first year, he has already begun instilling the discipline heavy work ethic and winning culture his tenure will be defined with. Following a disappointing year after the graduation of Class of 2024’s Jeryck Chavoya, a change in the coaching staff was desperately needed. Hall’s fresh initiatives of constant communication on and most importantly, off the court, have proven to better the attitudes and team chemistry of a group known for their short-tempers. Hall laid out his plan to develop what he thinks can bring Mountain View back to the league powerhouse it was not long ago. With a young core to work with in the coming years, a focus of the younger levels, JV and Frosh/Soph, is what he thinks is crucial to a strong basketball program. Coach Hall is determined to make this program his and is prepared to build it up again. Our Viking’s first league game under Hall’s coaching is set to take place in our very own gymnasium on Monday, December 16, 2024.
